Project Description

Applicants are invited to work on revealing the role of visual and/or performing arts in cities and after violent conflict through the prism of the resistance and tactics of subjugated groups and the strategies of those with power.
The scope of research questions might include but are not limited: How is art incorporated into conflicting strategies of power? What is the role of art and creative communities in reconciliation? How is art incorporated into public spaces of cities under and after armed conflict? How can urban spaces be revitalized via art practices after armed conflict?
The research context might be related to countries which recently experienced armed conflicts as Ukraine, Georgia, Columbia, Sri-Lanka, Rwanda or others.
Applicants wishing to work within a mixed methods approach are particularly encouraged to apply.
Candidates are invited to consult with the prospective supervisor to discuss their research proposal.
