 What We Are Looking For:

·        Background in Transportation Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operation Research, Civil Engineering, or related field

·        Experience in big data analytics, transportation simulation or modelling is an advantage

·        Proficiency in programming skills (e.g., Python/MATLAB/C++)

·        Strong interests in smart city development and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary international team.

Dr. Wai Wong, a lecturer (equivalent to assistant professor in North American system) in transportation engineering at the Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering, University of Canterbury (UC), is at the forefront of advancing smart cities through innovative research. He earned his Ph.D. in transportation and traffic engineering from the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Professor S.C. Wong. Before joining UC, he served as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Michigan Transportation Laboratory, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Michigan, USA, supervised by Professor Henry Liu.

Driven by a deep-rooted passion for creating smarter and more efficient transportation systems, Dr. Wong's research is dedicated to advancing smart cities through cutting-edge research. With a strong focus on transportation big data analytics, his expertise encompasses areas such as traffic data scaling and fusion, transport model estimation methods, network-wide macroscopic traffic flow models, cybersecurity in connected environment, intelligent transportation systems, and road safety analysis. Dr. Wong has published in world-leading journals and conferences such as Transportation Science, Transportation Research Part B and Transportation Research Part C.
