A-Gas Electronic Materials has a 25-year history of serving the manufacturing and research areas of the semiconductor, printed circuit board and electronic/industrial metal finishing with high quality materials and technical expertise.
A-Gas has recently expanded into the printed electronics area offering material supply and technical capability.
It is envisaged that the successful candidates will undertake research investigating the development of novel materials for adhesion, bonding/encapsulation and dielectric properties. The resulting materials will be tailored for applications within the printed electronics and semi-conductor fields. These applications include substrate planarization prior to stack building for the creation of a range of devices such as sensor systems and printed electronic displays; as well as adhesion layers to account for the incompatibility of adjacent stack structure layers. The candidate will develop a selection and evaluation model to be applied to evaluate the potential of a component materials suitability for incorporation into new formulations. The criteria involved in the model will feed into the selection of components to develop materials which can achieve application requirements whilst using traditional non-photosensitive cure methods.
The establishment of the model / criteria will be accompanied by laboratory-based formulation experimentation, deposition work and analysis for validation for the formulations and the model.
Eligibility We welcome applications from candidates with an Engineering or Physical Science degree (minimum level 2:1), or a combination of degree and equivalent relevant experience to the same level, to join the M2A community of research engineers.

The scholarship covers the full cost of UK/EU tuition fees, plus a tax free stipend of £20,000 p.a. for a period of four years.
