Project Description

A fully funded PhD studentship in the area of Hyperspectral/multispectral Remote Sensing is available from January 2016 to join our exciting research in the Shrivenham campus (Oxford County) of Cranfield University, UK. The main theme of the project is the design and development of a novel high throughput hyperspectral imaging system and to validate it through experimental trials. Research work will involve electro-optical design using ray tracing, atmospheric modelling, scene simulation, sub-pixel target detections, band selections, hyperspectral multi-sensor fusion, system calibration and experimental trial validation. The system is designed for environmental research and civil/bio-medical applications. Successful candidate is expected to work closely with our collaborators in the UK and aboard.
Candidates with good Bachelor/Master degree in Physical science, Mathematics, Computing and Engineering disciplines are welcome to apply. Preference will be given to applicants with backgrounds of remote sensing, imaging system, image processing, computing programming (C++, C#, FPGA VHDL, Matlab, IDL, ENVI etc), mathematical modelling and machine vision.

Funding Notes

The studentship will cover full tuition fee and living expenses of up to £19,500 p.a. for 3.5 years. Due to the nature of the funding applicants must be EU/UK national. The studentship position will remain open until it is filled. Interested candidates are welcome to submit a full CV attention to Peter Yuen ([email protected], mob: +44 7766181898) and any questions about the studentship and/or informal discussion of projects are very welcome.
