About the Project

This project is aimed to develop nanoparticle-based reagent for delivery of bioactive molecules to plants.

Food shortage is likely to be a major concern in the next decade if the global population grows at the current rate. The agricultural sectors are stretched to the limit now and new solution to improve productivity is required. One possible solution is to use nanoparticle technology to delivery bioactive molecules to crops and ensure their healthy growth. Nanoparticles are capable in penetrating into the plants through roots but can be delivered to specific parts of the plants by modifying the surface chemistry. This project is suitable for students who have background in nanomaterials and their development towards environmental applications.
Requirements
All applicants must have or expect to have a 1st class MChem, MPhys, MSci, MEng or equivalent degree by Autumn 2020.
