Functional Selectivity and the Regulation of Receptor-Activated Signaling Pathways

Project Description

The molecular mechanisms that regulate receptors and receptor-activated signaling pathways in the cardiovascular and nervous systems are complex. Our work is focused on G protein-coupled receptor, toll-like receptors and ion channels. We are particularly interested in receptor interaction, cooperativity and biased agonists and how those molecular mechanisms affect signal transduction.
Studies will provide will provide specialist training in molecular, biochemical, pharmacological, microscopic and genetic tools to discover new targets for the treatment of pain and inflammatory processes that can be associated with many human disorders including migraine, asthma and inflammatory bowel disease.
