About the Project

Do you want to be part of the next generation of researchers in Sustainable Nature Based Solutions?

Manchester Met is looking for a PhD applicant to provide research support for the GOGREEN ROUTES Project, conducted within the Horizon 2020 SC5-14-2019 visionary and integrated solutions to improve well-being and health in cities project framework. GOGREEN ROUTES is a four-year €10.48 million project commencing in September 2020 with 39 partners across 18 countries.

As this project is concerned with the development of interconnected green corridors in public spaces, there is a unique opportunity to examine the role of digital innovation and its relationship with the psychology of wellbeing through digital placemaking initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for the development and dissemination of digital placemaking toolkits to appropriate groups related to the project for each route. Toolkits will be created through collection and analysis of data from the project and will support a series of research questions regarding intrinsic and extrinsic motivations for exercise in green and blue spaces and its impact on physical and mental health. This scholarship will give the candidate the opportunity to support the development of new knowledge in the area of digital placemaking (Keegan, 2020), with a specific focus on its impact on health and psychological health and behaviour (Gritzka et al., 2020).

The PhD scholarship will be supervised by Dr. Brendan James Keegan, Professor Marc Jones, and Dr. Tadhg McIntyre. For further information on the project, contact Dr. Brendan James Keegan ([Email Address Removed])

This project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 framework programme under grant agreement No 869764.

The candidate will be responsible for the development and dissemination of digital placemaking toolkits to appropriate groups related to the project for each city.

Toolkits will be created through collection and analysis of data from the project and will support a series of research questions regarding motivation for exercise in green and blue spaces and its impact on physical and mental health.

This scholarship will give the candidate the opportunity to support the development of new knowledge in the area of digital placemaking, with a specific focus on its impact on psychological health and behaviour.
