Gold containing nanoalloy catalysts for redox reactions


Project Description

Gold when alloyed with other metals can give enhanced activity in redox reactions.

The aim of this PhD is to prepare gold containing nanoalloys as bimetallic or trmetallic formulations using a range of methods for example sol immobilisation. These will be used as catalysts for redox reactions and the materials will be characterised using state of the art techniques. The aim will be to explore structure activity relationships with an aim to understand the origin of synergy between gold and the other metals that gives the enhanced activity for these catalysts.
