Health Information Exchange: exploring the primary barriers to Health Information Exchange both nationally and internationally

Health Information Exchange is the secure electronic transmission of patient information across healthcare settings. For nearly two decades, countries around the World have struggled with facilitating Health Information Exchange; unfortunately, the failures far outnumber the successes. It is a Global Challenge, which if left unaddressed presents countries like the U.K. with potentially insurmountable difficulties to extend healthcare growth.

This PhD project will explore the primary barriers to Health Information Exchange both nationally and internationally, and propose potential solutions to help overcome these barriers.

This project will allow the successful candidate to gain skills in quantitative and qualitative methodologies, which are widely used in health services research.
