About the Project

Atomisation and spray superheated liquid to gas is fundamentally different from those sub-cooled liquid. The process involves much faster atomisation and mixing compared to those of conventional sprays. This, in turn, can potentially improve the spray processes, such as those in Pharmaceutical and Advanced Manufacturing technologies. However, the underlying physics of such mode of atomisation is still not fully understood, as it involves the highly nonlinear and multiscale processes. In this project, you will use an in-house DNS code and perform numerical simulations to explore the underlying mechanisms of this class of sprays and develop sub-model for LES calculations.
