Principal Supervisor: Dr. Miao Cui received PhD degree from University of Liverpool, and M.S. degree from Chinese Academy of Sciences (SINANO), and B.S. degree from Sichuan University. She has research and work experience in microelectronics for more than 10 years, including CMOS technology, GaN LEDs, GaN power devices and integrated circuits (ICs). JITRI co-supervisor: Dr. Xiaoxu Guo received PhD degree from Institute of Microelectronics, Chinese Academy of Science, M.S. degree from Chinese Academy of Sciences, B.S. degree from Lanzhou University. Dr. Guo has IC design and industry experience for more than 20 years. He is a specialist in high-speed mixed-signal circuit design, his current research focuses on high-speed ADC circuit design, multi-channel ADC, highprecision low-power ADC and sub-GHz RF circuit design.
The candidate should have a first class or upper second class honours degree, or a master’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in Microelectronics and Solid State Electronics, Circuit and System, Electronic Science and Technology. Solid background in RF microwave circuits and advanced analog circuits; familiar with semiconductor devices and IC fabrication technology; familiar with Analog EDA design tools and Linux systems. Evidence of good spoken and written English is essential. The candidate should have an IELTS score of 6.5 or above, if the first language is not English. This position is open to all qualified candidates irrespective of nationality.
Please note that the joint PhD project is industry-based and the candidate is expected to undertake part of the research at the partner organization in China.
The student will be awarded a PhD degree from the University of Liverpool (UK) upon successful completion of the program.
This PhD project is a collaborative research project between XJTLU (http://www.xjtlu.edu.cn) in Suzhou and JITRI (Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute) Institute of Intelligent Integrated Circuit Design Technology (智能集成电路设计技术研究所) The student will be registered as an XJLTU PhD student but is expected to carry out the major part of his or her research at the Institute in Institute of Intelligent Integrated Circuit Design Technology(智能集成电路设计技术研究所). The PhD studentship is available for three years subject to satisfactory progress by the student. The award covers tuition fees for three years (currently equivalent to RMB 80,000 per annum). In addition, during the period of undertaking main research at institute in Suzhou, the PhD candidate will be provided with monthly living allowance at a standard 5000 RMB per month by Institute of Intelligent Integrated Circuit Design Technology(智能集成电路设计技术研究所).
