Project Description

The role of the informal sector in household coping strategies. Focusing upon any country, this PhD will take the household as the unit of analysis and evaluate the work practices that households use to get-by in their everyday lives. The intention in doing so will be to reveal the limited penetration of the market economy so far as the everyday coping practices of households are concerned so as to open up the future to possibilities beyond market hegemony.
