Institute of Clinical Pharmacology

Monday, May 31, 2021 Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide)
Göttingen Germany Pharmacology Pharmacy Toxicology

About the Project

The University Medical Center Göttingen is a tertiary care center and offers great development potential. Its 7,900 employees work in over 65 departments and facilities to provide top-quality patient care, excellent research and modern teaching. Göttingen, “City of Science”, located near the center of Germany, the University Medical Center Göttingen is embedded in the city’s attractive network of scientific research facilities.

For the project: "Human atrial engineered heart muscle as a new patient-specific model for atrial fibrillation" we aim to utilize atrial engineered heart muscle to develop patient-specific models of atrial fibrillation (AF) that will allow for clinical prediction of AF risk. To address this aim, you will employ state of the art imaging (confocal microscopy, optical mapping) and electrophysiological methods (patch-clamp), as well as modern tissue engineering techniques. Analysis of acquired data and images will require solid knowledge in coding (MatLab and Python). Based on your experiments, we aim to identify new mechanism based drug targets for the treatment of patients with AF.

The ideal candidate should hold a Master’s degree in mathematics, physics, life sciences or a related field. Experiences in machine learning techniques would be an asset. Salary will be according to the German salary scale TV-L 65 %.

Please send your application until May 31st, 2021 to:

. In addition to standard documents, the application should contain a motivation letter.
