Impact of Culture and Creative Industries on Cultural Sustainability

Project Description

Culture and creative industries (CCIs) are experiencing significant growth, contributing £268bn to the UK economy in 2017 with impact on employment and social wellbeing.
With growing interest in considering culture as an aspect of sustainable development, understanding the impact of such industries within contemporary Cultural sustainability discourse is important. Interesting questions include: Do CCIs play a role in the achievement of Cultural sustainability? Can such affect be explored in an explicit way? This research aims to develop a framework for understanding the role of culture in sustainability with a focus on CCIs. A mixed methodological approach will be employed.
