About the Project

Thanks to advancements in modern medicine, we are able to live longer than ever. As a result, we are living in an ever-growing aging population in which an increasing number of older people face living alone. These individuals are more vulnerable to both physical and mental illness.

This project will look at the application and development of camera-based systems to monitor and assess physical and mental health of elderly people living alone at home. We will look to evaluate the performance and suitability of existing computer vision algorithms and libraries. Where necessary further developments with deep learning frameworks will be carried out to detect, understand and assess the observed activities.

Aspects of the project are likely to additionally require collaborations with researchers from multiple domains and institutions.

Eligibility requirement: Msc. in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field
