About the Project

The Institute for Global Health and Wellbeing seeks high calibre postgraduate research students to undertake PhD studies. With core principles rooted in a focus on the health problems of global populations that lie beyond single state solutions the Institute welcomes interdisciplinary, partnership, research. Recently recognised in the Research Excellence Framework 2021, the Institute is housed within a world-leading research environment primarily situated within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences along with key links into its sister Faculties of Natural Sciences, and of Humanities and Social Sciences. Applications from existing strategic partnerships are especially welcomed.

Working through the Institute, it is anticipated that you will become part of an interdisciplinary supervisory team. Exceptional funding requests can be made to the Keele Key Fund to support Keele visits and project items. The expectation is that students or partner organisations will resource the remaining costs (student fee (for KIGHW22B option), salary/stipend, or project costs). All scholarships can be campus-based or distance learning.

 Eligibility:

·        Be a current national or resident of an ODA country (for eligibility please check the latest list https://www.oecd.org/dac/financing-sustainable-development/development-finance-standards/daclist.htm).

·        Develop a research topic which fits with the advertised strategic priorities of the Research Institute

·        Have a first degree at the international equivalent of a 2:1, English language IELTS with a minimum score of 6.0 overall and on all subtests, and normally have a Masters degree in a relevant subject.
