About the Project

India is amongst array of developing countries with one of the worse air pollutions problems in the world. “The Times of India, 14 Feb 2017” reported 1.1 Million deaths in 2015 initiated from small particulates or other impurities from the air pollution known to be triggering factor for many respiratory ailments and diseases. Only China has worse air pollution death records than India. The health burden associated with air pollution to India and the developing countries’ economies is immense.

Conventional traditional water cool air conditioning system take advantage of water partial pressure driving force and evaporative cooling. In reality whilst in our offices or home, we have no idea about the dangerous levels of pollutants in air we breathe, NOX, N2O, CO, CO2, trace HC’s aerosols are the primary culprits for air pollution in our cities & working environment. The Co2 level in industrial and urban environment multiplies (sometime due to inverse temperature). This effort initiates a global challenge to address air pollution in our working environment, a pioneering air conditioning concept, integration adsorption and evaporative cooling, recognises the broader health related environmental challenges and takes advantages of the established principals in the air conditioning and cryogenic industry to address air pollution targeting our working place, transportation or places we live in.

Funding Notes

Brunel offers a number of funding options to research students that help cover the cost of their tuition fees, contribute to living expenses or both. See more information here: Recently the UK Government made available the Doctoral Student Loans of up to £25,000 for UK and EU students and there is some funding available through the Research Councils. Many of our international students benefit from funding provided by their governments or employers. Brunel alumni enjoy tuition fee discounts of 15%.)
