About the Project

Integration of Indigenous experiences/places/people into tourism. The Centre for Tourism and Regional Opportunities at CQUniversity is looking for a talented and highly motivated PhD candidate. Morris Family Foundation kindly sponsored a PhD scholarship to conduct research on the topic of the integration of Indigenous experiences/places/people into tourism. The successful applicant will be supervised by Professor Bruce Prideaux and Dr Elena Konovalov. It is envisaged that research activities will be mostly conducted in North Queensland, Australia, with the successful candidate located either at CQUniversity Cairns or Townsville campus.
How to Apply
Research Higher Degree candidates apply via iStart with an Expression of Interest which asks you to select your course and location, along with providing a brief description of your proposed research topic. Expression of Interest must be submitted by the prospective candidate.
Depending upon the outcome of your Expression of Interest, you may be invited to submit a full application for admission as a research higher degree candidate. The University reserves the right to refuse admission to any applicant.

Our Research Higher Degree courses don’t have any deadlines as students can commences these courses at anytime.

Funding Notes

Besides the usual student stipend of approximately $27,000 per year, the scholarship also has a $10,000 research support grant for research activities. Please note that the scholarship is for a full-time student and candidates need to contact Dr Elena Konovalov to advise of their intention to apply. We will close the scholarship as soon as we have a suitable candidate. You can find further information in the scholarships eligibility and selection criteria.

Funding is also provided by CQUniversity to support research higher degree student project costs, and to support national and international conference presentations. This includes:

- up to $4,500 for Conference Travel Support
