About the Project

This PhD project, supervised by Dr Caroline Ardrey will examine artistic dialogues and transmedial reception histories of nineteenth-century French poetry.

Applications which consider twentieth-century and / or contemporary borrowings from nineteenth-century poetry in literature, music or the visual arts, are particularly welcome. Comparative literature studies, or projects that look at the reception of nineteenth-century French poetry through translation will also be considered.

The project might focus on the work of Arthur Rimbaud, Paul Verlaine, Stéphane Mallarmé or others, considered either individually or as a group. These are suggestions and the list is certainly not exhaustive: please contact the lead supervisor, Dr Caroline Ardrey ([Email Address Removed]) to discuss project ideas further.
