About the Project

PROJECT:

Language users often repeat grammatical structures across utterances, a finding that has been referred to as structural priming. Structural priming can be elicited in psychological experiments to investigate how language users produce grammatical structures and represent grammar. It has been used to investigate the various stages in language production, to what extent grammatical structures are represented with specific words in the sentence such as verbs, how children and second language learners learn and represent grammar and what the memory representations are that underlie grammatical representations.

We invite strong and highly motivated candidates with a background in experimental psychology or linguistics to do a PhD on any topic related to structural priming. You will be trained and supervised by Roger van Gompel, an expert on structural priming research, and work in the Discipline of Psychology at the University of Dundee, renowned for its research on multiple aspects of language processing.
