About the Project
This PhD project is focused on the investigation of the new ignition methods and fuels for low and zero-carbon high efficiency engines. New ignition devices and new fuels will be implemented and researched in the single cylinder engines and a constant volume chamber and the ignition and combustion of different fuels will be studied by means of heat release analysis and advanced optical and laser measurement techniques.
Applicants will have received a first degree at 2:1 (65%) or above in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering, or other related engineering and physics subjects. Previous experience and knowledge in one of more of the following topics will be desirable: optical and laser measurement techniques, low temperature plasma discharge, combustion chemistry, engine testing.
