Our impressive achievements include successful projects supported by several prestigious institutions, collectively amounting to over £10 million in funding. These notable organizations include the EPSRC, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Technology Strategy Board, and industry. Such substantial support serves as a testament to our team's exceptional track record and dedication to advancing our field. Our dynamic team consists of a qualified professor, reader, and senior lecturers, with extensive collaborations with leading universities in the Russell Group. As a PhD student, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our esteemed colleagues from institutions such as King’s College London and the University of Southampton, gaining invaluable insights and networking opportunities within your field. As a PhD student in our team, you will work with experienced researchers and gain access to world-class high-performance computing facilities, specifically tailored to your field, and take your research to the next level. 

We are looking for candidates to work on the following projects:

(1) Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning for industrial document classification: We are seeking a PhD student with a background in computer science or experience in natural language processing to design and develop algorithms for classifying documents. The research will apply directly to industry and provides an excellent opportunity to gain real-world experience.

(2) Reinforcement Learning-Based Control System Design for Electric Machines: Electric machines have been widely used in modern industry. We are seeking a PhD student with a background in machine learning or control theory to develop control systems for electric machines based on reinforcement learning techniques. This project has the potential to revolutionize the field of electric machine control systems.

(3) Control System Design for Collaborative Robots: We are seeking a PhD student with a background in robotics or control systems to design and develop control systems for Cobots. This project is at the cutting-edge of robotics research and has the potential to make a significant impact in the field.

(4) Intelligent Energy Management: We are seeking a PhD student with AI background to detect energy consumption patterns and usage habits of residents to optimize energy usage in the home. For example, AI can control heating and cooling systems, lights, and other appliances to minimize energy consumption during peak demand periods and maximize energy savings when energy rates are lowest.

(5) Open topics in data science, AI, control system design, image processing (e.g., efficiency analysis for hydrogen combustion), etc.
