KESS2 Scholarship: Screening and intervention for individuals with Alcohol Related Brain Damage


Project Description

This is a funded PhD, including a generous stipend and tuition fees, with well-resourced circumstances for a successful scholarship.
Here is an exciting opportunity to study health and care services which could lead to entirely new approaches in the treatment of Alcohol Related Brain Damage.

Programme of research:

The overall programme of research will include 4 discrete but interrelated studies:
Study 1: Investigation of key indicators of ARBD by service users & service providers, both currently in treatment and those in recovery; and existing research evidence.
Study 2: Development and evaluation/testing of brief screening measure for ARBD.
Study 3: Development of brief psychological intervention: The perspectives of potential service users and their families; Pobl service providers; existing research evidence
Study 4: Implementation, initial evaluation and refinement of brief psychological intervention

Funding Notes

The studentship will cover the fees for a full-time PhD programme and pay a stipend of circa £14k p.a. There is also around £9k project support costs available for consumables, travel, minor equipment, training (including the KESS Grad School) and conference attendance.

The position is available from 1st April 2020.
