About the Project

The Football Association and the Carnegie School of Sport are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to this prestigious Football Association PhD studentship.

This is a unique opportunity for a enthusiastic and high-achieving individual looking to undertake a PhD in a vibrant research and professional sporting environment, helping innovate and drive current and future practices with a high level of scientific rigour across the girls England talent pathway.

The studentship will aim to answer the performance question ’What are the physical characteristics and determinants of match performance in elite female soccer players?’ Findings will align to the key performance strategies of the Football Association.

The studentship will be based primarily at the Carnegie School of Sport but will also involve time spent at St Georges Park and supporting FA performance staff.

Funding Notes

The studentship comes with:
A stipend of £15,009 per annum (pro-rata into 12 monthly payments)
UK/EU Fees paid for a period of three years
Laptop, office space and £1000 to support the research project are also provided
