About the Project

Panoz Pharmaceutical Innovation PhD Scholarships

The Panoz Scholarship Programme is designed to promote leadership in pharmaceutical innovation and to support outstanding young scholars to study Pharmaceutical Sciences in Trinity. We are seeking to recruit three outstanding student scientists to a unique four year fully funded structured PhD. All students on the programme will receive training in research integrity, will be exposed to world leading speakers in the School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Seminar Series and will take one of the full Postgraduate Certificates in Innovation offered by Tangent as they develop their PhD projects. Information on the one of the exciting projects we are recruiting for is below. 

Candidates will be shortlisted and interviewed (over Zoom) during late July and the expected start date for this programme is September 2021.

Project 2 Title: Let’s get moving on nanomedicine for Parkinson’s disease: Development of a nanotheranostic targeting synuclein related neuroinflammation and degeneration

This is a collaborative project to be undertaken under the join supervision of Professors Eduardo Ruiz-Hernandez (Pharmaceutical Chemistry of Nanocarrier Drug Delivery Systems) and Andrew Harkin (Neuropharmacology), bringing together a set of skills and expertise that expand current research efforts. The project will be undertaken in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences & Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience

Research Group: Pharmaceutical Chemistry of Nanocarrier Drug Delivery Systems (PI: Ruiz-Hernandez) and Neuropharmacology (PI: Harkin) Research Groups/School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences/Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin

Location: The School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panoz Institute, Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin, College Green, Dublin 2, Ireland

Reports to: Prof. Andrew Harkin, Prof. Eduardo Ruiz-Hernandez

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Funding Notes

EU fees and stipend of €18,500 per year. Provision for purchase of laptop in year 1 and contribution toward research conference travel costs each year.
