Lighting the Way - Adventures in Fruit Spectroscopy

School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences

Applications accepted all year round Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide)

About the Project

Join Northern Australia's agricultural innovator, CQU's Institute for Future Farming Systems - a world-leader in delivering practical solutions which are bolstering the productivity, profitability and sustainability of the horticulture sectors. Our team is looking for a Masters (or Phd) research student to examine the effectiveness of various optical geometries, together with the use of polarising filters, to improve on existing spectrometric techniques for assessment of intact fruit. In any spectroscopic systems, there is light (electromagnetic radiation) that has interacted with the object of information and so carries information on it, and light that has not so interacted, but has reached the detector. The challenge is to separate these components. The use of polarising filters offers the potential for this, through elimination of specular reflections.

How to Apply

Research Higher Degree candidates apply via iStart with an Expression of Interest which asks you to select your course and location, along with providing a brief description of your proposed research topic. Expression of Interest must be submitted by the prospective candidate.
Depending upon the outcome of your Expression of Interest, you may be invited to submit a full application for admission as a research higher degree candidate. The University reserves the right to refuse admission to any applicant.

Application Deadlines

Our Research Higher Degree courses don’t have any deadlines as students can commences these courses at anytime.
