About the Project

The Doctoral School in the Humanities at the Jagiellonian University offers each accepted candidate a scholarship for the entire training cycle (approx. EUR 700 before the mid-term evaluation, and approx. EUR 900 afterwards). The Jagiellonian University does not charge tuition fees.

In addition, the Doctoral School offers various forms of financial support for raising research and scientific qualifications necessary to continue a scientific career in the country and abroad, supporting doctoral students in international and interdisciplinary activities.

In her/his research work, a doctoral student may cooperate with the highly qualified and most outstanding academic staff from the Jagiellonian University and from other universities, including foreign ones. Most of our researchers have regular international collaboration with very prestigious academic institutions. 

Programme description/ Graduate’s profile:

Literary Studies Programme offers advanced studies and research under the guidance of experienced researchers. The programme is interdisciplinary and is implemented in the very close cooperation with representatives of other humanities and sciences.

The pluralism of methodological orientations is an important feature of the Literary Studies Programme and is associated with the specificity of the Philology Departments at the Jagiellonian University.

PhD students not only deepen their knowledge, but also conduct research under the supervision of our experienced researchers.

For whom/Entry requirements: A person with a master's degree, master's degree in science or equivalent obtained in any field as well as a person with a bachelor degree (check additional requirements).

Funding Notes

Education at the Jagiellonian University Doctoral Schools is free. Each PhD student receives a scholarship in the amount set by law or more, depending on the source of funding. In addition, each PhD student may apply for funding for the implementation of his doctoral project.
The minimum scholarship, which is awarded to each doctoral student admitted to the school, is:
· Before the mid-term evaluation (by the end of the 24th month) - PLN 2,780/EUR 632 (including insurance costs).
· After mid-term evaluation (from 25 or 26 months) - approx. PLN 4,280/EUR 974 (including insurance costs).
