EPSRC PhD Opportunity – “Measurement of Newborn Electro-Optical Physiological Signals”

Optics & Photonics Research Group - an Opportunity to Create Healthcare Impact

In the Optics and Photonics Research group we are looking for a talented individual that is willing to shape the future of healthcare of newborns by research leading to a PhD. From reliable and accurate electronic devices to novel fibre optic sensors, our ground breaking research focuses on tackling health challenges enabling a better life quality.

This particular PhD relates to the detection of electrical and optical signals from the delicate epidermis of newborns at birth and in intensive care. The aim being to build an unobtrusive wireless wearable device that can detect vital physiological signals in real time.

Ideal applicants would be either an Electronic Engineer, Physics or Computer Science with interests in both hardware and embedded software holding at least an Upper Second-class Honours degree.

Funding Notes

PhD funding (£15,285/yr) is available for 3.5 yrs with possibilities to convert to a CASE award

Only eligible for UK/EU nationals. Please apply as soon as possible.
