School: School of Science

Full Time Duration: 3 years
Part Time Duration: 6 years

In this project, we will strive to create a secure and trusted cross-domain collaboration network for early edge-based threat detection and protection. The objective of the framework is to detect network threats such as Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS), Ransomware/Malware etc. delivered by Botnets and to deter them at the edge of the network, where they are generated. This will provide early and immediate response for minimising the potential impact of an attack (hence, early edge-based). We can achieve this vision by enabling service providers and network operators to contribute knowledge from their local networks in a decentralised and trusted manner (based on permissioned blockchain) for global synthesis of network telemetry data across multiple autonomous systems (ASes).
