Project Description

This is a fully funded PhD. project, in collaboration with an industrial partner, to investigate the effect of charging protocols on lithium-ion battery performance. The results of the project will be used by our industrial partner to enhance their designs for battery chargers. The project will involve a mixture of mathematical modelling together with numerical and analytical methods for solving PDEs.

Lithium-ion battery technology is extensively used in consumer electronics and is a leading contender for powering electric vehicles. However there remain significant issues with battery deterioration and safety, some of which will be addressed in this project.
