Prof C Simon Herrington, Prof M Arends  No more applications being accepted  Competition Funded PhD Project (UK Students Only)

About the Project

A 3-year funded PhD studentship is available to join the Herrington and Arends groups at the Cancer Research UK Edinburgh Centre at the University of Edinburgh Institute of Genetics and Cancer. The project will involve the analysis of synchronous tumours of the endometrium and ovary to investigate their biological and clinical relationships. Specifically, the student will use sequencing techniques and sex hormone receptor immunoprofiling to investigate these tumours in a well curated cohort of patients, for whom there is extensive clinical outcome data. The project will also involve investigation of the mechanisms by which sex hormone receptor signaling is dysregulated in endometrioid carcinoma, using a range of techniques applied to cell lines derived from this tumour type. Ultimately, this project aims to understand the relationship between such synchronous tumours in order to improve the clinical management of affected patients.

Please contact Professor C Simon Herrington ([Email Address Removed]) and Professor Mark Arends ([Email Address Removed]) if you have any questions about the project, or would like to discuss it in more detail.

Applicants should hold at least an upper second-class degree in a relevant subject.
