We invite applications from a highly motivated individual to join research to develop multi-functional space borne radar capability for ISAR imagery of space objects from space. The PhD student will be part of the research team within the Microwave Integrated Systems Laboratory (MISL) to work on EPSRC funded project Multi-dimensional quantum-enabled sub-THz Space-Borne ISAR sensing for space domain awareness and critical infrastructure monitoring – SBISAR, to create a framework of novel approaches and methods for characterising objects in space. The applicant should have at least upper second class degree in Radar, Signal processing, Digital Communication Physics or relevant disciplines at the time of taking up the position. The work will involve literature surveys, development of distributed sensors concept for image reconstruction in multi-temporal, multi-perspective observational scenarios, synchronization based on quantum clocks, computer modelling and simulation, ISAR image processing and reconstruction from sparse representatives.
