About the Project

Carbon Nexus at Deakin University is Australia’s carbon fibre and composite research facility conducting research across the entire composite materials value chain from carbon fibre and new resins to composite manufacturing. A PhD opportunity has arisen with the composite and modelling groups to synthesise and investigate thermosetting resin systems for high performance composite materials that are tougher and stronger, yet sustainable and multi-functional.

The project will be ideally suited for candidates with a passion for synthesis, materials science and/or materials modelling. Candidates will require a high degree of knowledge of polymer chemistry, network polymers and/or molecular simulations.

Funding Notes

This scholarship is available over 3 years.

Stipend of $28,068 per annum tax exempt (2020 rate)
Relocation allowance of $500-1500 (for single to family) for students moving from interstate or overseas
International students only: Tuition fee and overseas health coverage for the duration of 4 years
To be eligible you must:

be either a domestic or international candidate
meet Deakin's PhD entry requirements
be enrolling full time and hold an honours degree (first class) or an equivalent standard master's degree with a substantial research component.
