  PhD in Chemistry: Alternative synthetic routes to FOX-7 and BITE-101: EPSRC IDLA PhD

About the Project

The aim of the Industrial Doctoral Landscape Award (IDLA) PhD studentship, jointly sponsored by EPSRC and DSTL will be to develop microreactor technology for new flow electrochemical methods to solve current challenges in the synthesis of energetic materials, exemplified by the development of new synthetic routes towards FOX-7 and BITE-101.

Academic criteria

Candidates should hold or expect to gain a first class degree or a good 2.1 and/or an appropriate Master’s level qualification (or their equivalent). 

We also welcome applications for both full and part-time study and from candidates with non-traditional academic backgrounds.

Interviews Shortlisted candidates will be notified of the interview date that is expected to take place during week commencing Monday 17th March 2025.

As part of the interview process, the candidates who have been shortlisted will be required to deliver a brief (approximately 5 minutes) presentation based on a recent research project.

Funding Notes

This is an EPSRC IDLA 4 year PhD that covers tuition fees, an annual tax-free living stipend of in line with UKRI minimum rates (currently £19,237) and includes access to a Research Training Support Grant (currently £4000).
