PhD in Optoelectronic Organic/Organometallic Materials for electroluminescent devices or photocatalysis.

About the Project

Members of the Zysman-Colman group conduct research at the interface of organometallic/organic, optoelectronic materials, physical organic, and supramolecular chemistry. We use a combination of organic synthesis, coordination chemistry, varied analytical techniques such as NMR, mass spectrometry, emission spectroscopy, and electrochemistry, coupled with molecular modelling to address four major research goals relating to energy conversion:

(1) Development of improved luminophores for visual displays and flat panel lighting based on organic light emitting diode (OLED) and light-emitting electrochemical cell (LEEC) architectures;
(2) Design of more efficient dyes for Organic Photovoltaics (OPV) and Grätzel-type dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs);
(3) Electrochemiluminescence materials.
(4) Photocatalyst development and mechanistic understanding of photocatalytic reactions.

The proposed project will target TADF materials development for electroluminescent devices or photocatalysis.
