About the Project

My research team uses controlled polymerisation techniques (such as RAFT, ATRP, ROMP) to synthesise polymers and polymer architectures. Our research is largely centered around molecular polymer bottlebrushes, but investigates shape-anisotropic nanomaterials more broadly. We use our comprehensive synthetic toolbox to design nanomaterials which aid the filling of research gaps in polymer self-assembly, gene and drug delivery studies, or in the fabrication of hybrid and semiconducting materials. In an effort to incorporate sustainability into our research programs, we are also developing new ways of synthesising our polymers using photocatalysis and incorporate renewable resources to our materials design. You can read more about us here:

In this project, I am looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic student who would like to do a PhD in polymer chemistry. Specifically the project deals with the synthesis of complex polymer architectures for self-assembly applications. Prior knowledge in physical chemistry, organic chemistry and/or nanoscience would be desired.
