I-Form, the SFI Research Centre for Advanced Manufacturing at Dublin City University (DCU) under Principle Investigator Prof. Dermot Brabazon and Mr. Brian Freeland are seeking a PhD candidate to work on an SFI funded project titled “Development and optimization of a microbial fermentation from media selection to pilot-scale production”. The project will run in collaboration with Prof. Christine Loscher of the School of Biotechnology, and a major Irish food producer. Applicant background required: Honours Degree in Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology, Microbial Biology, Chemical Engineering or a cognate discipline. A particular interest in bioprocess technologies would be a distinct advantage. The project will require strong on-the-bench skills, performing strain selection, developing Bioreactor control strategies and analytical protocols.
The team is looking for high performance aspiring applicants with a desire to discover new
knowledge and drive forward advanced bioprocess technologies. Applicants are invited from high achieving graduates with the specific related backgrounds noted above. It is desirable that the candidate would have some previous experience with media selection and microbial fermentation. A demonstrated ability of good communication skills will be sought.
