About the Project

This is a tremendously exciting project which is poised to deliver high impact results. It will focus on the design, synthesis, and characterisation of metal-organic frameworks built up from multiple components. Our group has built up a niche in this research area, and we are looking to build on our earlier work to produce enzyme-like catalysts. Day-to-day, the research will revolve around synthetic chemistry, crystallography, catalysis, and materials characterisation. The results will be published in high-impact journals.

Our research involves close collaborations among all group members and with other research groups in New Zealand and abroad, especially via our affiliation with the MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology. There will also be opportunities for traveling to present this research at international conferences.

The position is based in the School of Fundamental Sciences at the Palmerston North campus of Massey University, New Zealand. The Institute has world-class facilities for chemistry research. Palmerston North is a small, student-centered city with a vast range of recreational opportunities.

The annual stipend is NZ$27,500 (tax-free) for a period of three years, and student fees will be paid in addition to this.
