About the Project

Applications are invited for a PhD studentship, co-funded by Immunocore (https://www.immunocore.com/) and EPSRC and based in the Soft Matter and Biophysics group in the School of Physics at the University of Bristol. This is an experimental biological physics project, employing a fundamental understanding of biomolecule interactions to generate new strategies for formulation of next generation biotherapeutics.

The successful candidate will register in the School of Physics Graduate School and will join a well-equipped and dynamic research group at the University of Bristol with a focus on understanding protein self-assembly, protein-surface interactions and protein-excipient interactions. This project is very interdisciplinary in nature and will appeal to those with a background in physics, physical chemistry or chemical engineering and a willingness to learn new approaches and techniques to understand the physical basis underlying protein assembly and stability.

Applicants should have a first class or upper second class honours degree (B.Sc.) or a Masters degree in physics, chemistry or chemical engineering (or a related field). A willingness to learn new skills and techniques across disciplines is required. Research visits of up to 3 months to the Immunocore research facility in Oxford, UK will be part of the programme and a willingness to travel is expected. An immediate start is preferred.

More information about the research group and a list of publications can be found here: McManus Research Group.
Applicants should send a cover letter and CV, including the names of 2 referees (as a single pdf) to [Email Address Removed] for immediate review.
