Short description of project
EYE is a project funded under H2020-ITN-2020 call (industrial doctorate modality). EYE will provide training and professional development in Vision Sciences and Optical Imaging Technologies to 5 Early Stage Researchers (ESR). All ESR with be enrolled into the doctoral degree. The ESRs will gain knowledge, skills, and experience through experimental optical training, computational simulation, and cutting-edge clinical applications. Each ESR will spend at least 50% of the time working in the industry. The EYE project aims to analyse, simulate, improve and assess current presbyopia correction strategies in order to choose the optimal contact lens for each patient, offering new presbyopic solutions based on the eye-vision particularities of each person in a personalized way.
EYE counts with the participation of the Complutense University of Madrid, UCM (Spain) , and two industrial partners, Mark'ennovy (United Kingdom), which is a leading European company specialized in the design, manufacture and sales of contact lenses and Alain Afflelou (Portugal) an optical centres group, which will allow the consortium interact directly with the presbyopic population and clinicians.
ESR5: Development of e-Health instruments and technologies for Big Bata analysis in contact lens for presbyopia. The prime aim of this project is to develop tools capable of collecting and monitoring clinical parameters, patient-reported outcomes and environmental conditions in a continuous manner throughout the patient’s different circumstances while they wear contact lenses.
Applicants should hold a Master degree in relevant disciplines (mathematics, physics, computer/biomedical engineering, engineering, artificial Intelligence, big data, statistics, etc)
The respective candidate must not have resided in Portugal for more than 12 months within the last three years (employment date being the reference date) - The candidate needs to be in his/her first four years of his/her research career. The four years are counted from the date a degree was obtained which formally entitles to embark on a doctorate either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country of employment.
