About the Project

PhD positions in Cellular and Molecular Plant Biology

We currently offer the opportunity for suitable candidates to conduct a PhD thesis in the laboratory of Prof. Jürgen Kleine-Vehn at the renowned University of Freiburg in Southern Germany. The Chair group of Molecular Plant Physiology (MoPP) is looking for highly motivated and determined candidates holding a M.Sc. degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or a related discipline.

Successful candidates will use state of the art cell biological, biochemical, and molecular biology approaches to investigate plant growth regulation at subcellular to organ scale. The fundamental research projects are linked to agriculturally important traits revealing how plants regulate, monitor, and trigger differential growth.

For further reading we refer to:

Applicants should show a particular enthusiasm for science and for plant science in particular. Conducting the thesis demands creative thinking and manual skills. Ideally the candidates obtained already experiences in microscopy, molecular biology and/or biochemistry.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Master degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or related fields
  • Interested in plant sciences
  • High motivation and commitment
  • very good written and spoken English skills
