I am very pleased to have a 3-year scholarship available for a PhD student with a keen interest in the role of fungi or other soil biota in ecosystem processes. The exact research topic will be open for discussion, but preference will be given towards projects that build on our track record in linked plant-fungal invasions or otherwise complements on-going research in my group.
The candidate will require a background in mycology, microbiology and/or ecology. Experience working with molecular techniques, and strong computer skills would be advantageous.Applicants must be able to conduct field-based sampling, hold a valid New Zealand or international driver’s licence, and be eligible for admission to the PhD program at the University of Canterbury, starting their programme by 1 June 2019.
