PhD Scholarship Opportunities for Domestic and International Students – Railway Engineering

Duration: 3-year scholarship program

Scholarship: Successful applicants will receive a tuition fee waiver and a tax-free stipend at current value of $28,000 - $30,000 per annum full-time rate, with additional annual research support funds, domestic and international conference travel funds.

Opportunity:

A great opportunity to work in a leading railway research group on a national competitive grant. Australian Research Council, DE210100273- “Supercomputing to understand track buckling and related train derailments”. The topic for the PhD study can be tailored to suit the candidate within the project scope.

The Centre for Railway Engineering (CRE) is an industry-focused research centre located in Rockhampton.

CRE has a strong customer focus and endeavours to build robust partnerships between its researchers and the rail industry through high quality generic and commercial research, postgraduate education, innovation, development, and consultancy services.

The Centre is well known for its research expertise in train dynamics, locomotive, wagon and bogie dynamics, wagon/track system dynamics, simulation, instrumentation development and innovation. Our physical resources include a unique laboratory that was purpose designed for full-scale testing of bogies, wagons, locomotives, and civil infrastructure components.

 Who we are looking for:

The candidate can be domestic student or international student. Applicants should have a degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Transport and Computer Engineering) or a relevant discipline with a research component and strong academic results.

An applicant may be considered for admission to candidature for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy if the person holds:

a)      a Masters degree either by research or by coursework with a substantial element (typically one-third) of research work within it, from a university or any other approved institution

b)     a Bachelor degree in an appropriate discipline with first class or second class honours conferred by a university or any other approved institution

c)      a Bachelor degree in an appropriate discipline in addition to completion of the CQUniversity Graduate Certificate in Research with an average of distinction level of achievement, or

d)     alternative qualification/s and/or experience deemed by RHDC to be of equivalent scope and standard to those listed above.
