Overview
The project will use geometric, topological and language theoretic tools to understand discrete infinite groups and monoids, and study algorithmic problems modelled on them; in particular to study subgroups, quotients and homomorphisms of groups given by presentations, building on recent advances and successes in the theory of groups acting on non-positively curved complexes. The methods will be applied first to RAAG’s, then to graph products of groups, traces and subsequently larger, less tractable, classes of groups and monoids. These theoretical results will provide a frame-work for applications to concurrent systems: Petri nets, traces and step traces.
