Overview
Applications are invited for a partially funded PhD Studentship. The student working on this project will investigate the role of novel hormones in the human placenta and their role in human reproduction.

Project details
The human placenta is a transient endocrine organ that is crucial for the maintenance of pregnancy. The student will:
• Study the expression at gene, protein level as well as cellular distribution of novel hormones in cell lines and in clinical samples.
• Use microarrays or RNAseq to identify the key genes that are differentially regulated by these hormones.
• Dissect further the intracellular signaling in vitro using 3D cultures.

This partially-funded FEES ONLY studentship offers bench fees plus Home tuition fees for 3 years for a maximum of 36 months to the value of £9,327 per year, starting 1st October 2019.

The work will be conducted in the Department of Life Sciences under the direct supervision of Dr Emmanouil Karteris and in collaboration with clinicians and researchers from other leading UK universities, offering to the student the opportunity to be part of a dynamic research network specialsing in molecular and cellular endocrinology. For informal discussions about this studentship, please contact Dr Karteris ([Email Address Removed]).
