About the Project

Applications are invited for a PhD studentship in Protein Bioinformatics in the group of Professor Michael Sternberg at Imperial College London. The project will be the development of algorithms to model protein structure and their docking into functioning systems. Details of the software developed by the group upon which this project will be based can be found at www.sbg.bio.ic.ac.uk. The studentship will start on 1 October 2016.

Applicants should have or expect to obtain a first or a very good upper second undergraduate degree (or overseas equivalent) in either a physical, chemical, numerical or biological discipline. Depending on the qualifications of the student, the course may involve first attending the one-year MSc in Bioinformatics and Theoretical Systems Biology followed by funding for 3 years PhD research or for a student with a Masters starting immediately with the 3 year PhD. Previous experience of developing (not just using) computer software is essential and some knowledge of computational biology or bioinformatics would be advantage.

In the first instance make an informal enquiry by e-mail to [Email Address Removed] a CV with contact details of two academic referees. Your e-mail should have as its subject “Application for PhD - STERNBERG”. It is essential that you give the grades of all degrees and state your nationality.
