Full Project Detail This research will analyse the impact, effectiveness and value added by an online platform operating in a multi-sided market that connects buyers and sellers of ferry travel. The study will quantify this impact using existing data and statistical methods. The analysis will be based on historical trends to see how the operators and consumers benefit from the presence of an online platform and how a platform encourages healthy competition while helping in price regulation. This initial research will provide direction for developing future pricing models for the online platform.
We then aim to create digital customer profiles using AI methods such as reinforcement learning and neural networks, we will use the vast amount of data available from our industrial partner, who is operating in travel industry for the last 20 years and have large amounts of data that can be feed into our machine leaning models. Their customer base is spread all over the world, which makes the problem more interesting as well as challenging. This customer profiling will used to understand the customer buying behaviours and aid pricing decisions. We aim to apply dynamic pricing models to increase the company’s profit. Optimisation and reinforcement learning models will be used to dynamically price using real time data.
