About the Project

The Centre for Vision Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP) at The University of Surrey are pleased to offer a PhD opportunity in the field of medical imaging. The studentship is part of a unique partnership with: the metrology for Medical Physics Group (MEMPHYS) at The National Physical Laboratory; The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust and, Alliance Medical Limited – Europe’s largest independent provider of medical imaging.

The project will be part of our work to standardise medical imaging and its analysis, to develop AI methods for medical imaging analysis and interpretation and to build a unique methodology for big data studies in healthcare

Supervisor: Professor Phil Evans

This is a 3 year project starting in October 2021.

Entry requirements

All applicants should have (or expect to obtain) a first-class degree in a numerate discipline (mathematics, science or engineering) or MSc with Distinction (or 70% average) and a strong interest in pursuing research in this field. Additional experience which is relevant to the area of research is also advantageous.

English language requirements: IELTS Academic 6.5 or above (or equivalent) with 6.0 in each individual category.

Funding Notes

A stipend of £18,609 for 21/22, which will increase each year in line with the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) rate, plus Home/EU-rate fee allowance of £4,500 (with automatic increase to UKRI rate each year). The studentship is offered for 3 years.
