Predictive control is by now a well established methodology whereby one bases the design of the control law on the optimisation of system predictions. This allows constraint handling to be included systematically. Many extensions and applications to non-linear systems exist, but mostly require a significant computational burden. The aim of this project would be to investigate where a far simpler approach could be used for form an effective MPC law for a non-linear system.
This is a self-funded research project.
We require applicants to have either an undergraduate honours degree (2:1) or MSc (Merit or Distinction) in a relevant engineering subject from a reputable institution.
