Predictive control of non-linear and/or robust systems

Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering

Applications accepted all year round  Self-Funded PhD Students Only

About the Project

Predictive control is by now a well established methodology whereby one bases the design of the control law on the optimisation of system predictions. This allows constraint handling to be included systematically. Many extensions and applications to non-linear systems exist, but mostly require a significant computational burden. The aim of this project would be to investigate where a far simpler approach could be used for form an effective MPC law for a non-linear system.

Funding Notes

This is a self-funded research project.

We require applicants to have either an undergraduate honours degree (1st) or MSc (Merit or Distinction) in a relevant engineering subject from a reputable institution.

Full details of how to apply can be found at the following link: View Website

Applicants can apply for a Scholarship from the University of Sheffield but should note that competition for these Scholarships is highly competitive: View Website
