About the Project

A fully-funded 4 year PhD position is available in "Probabilistic Seasonal Forecasting and Climate Projections for Wind and Solar Energy", in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, UCD, Dublin, Ireland.

This PhD project aims to improve our understanding of Renewable Energy Sources (RES, wind and solar) in Ireland over two timescales: forecasting RES generation from hours to months into the future, and studying past and future climates to quantify projected changes in RES generation.

The successful candidate should have an MSc or Primary degree (First or Upper Second Class Honours) in Mathematics, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or related quantitative discipline; Strong mathematical skills, in particular with Partial Differential Equations; and Excellent coding skills in Python (R or Matlab are also acceptable).
